Welcome to my 2015 Spring Mystery. Clue #3 is Ready for Download

Daffodil

I am currently visiting family in Washington D. C. and am on Eastern Time.

I am missing the daffodils and crocuses blooming in Seattle right now .   Fortunately being around grandchildren makes up for the cold, snowy weather here on the East Coast of the U.S.

If you have any problems with the mystery please email me at

carterquilter@gmail.com

I hope you enjoy the mystery.   I  am looking forward to the photos of your quilt tops.

2015 Spring Mystery – All Day Sunday March 1

Daffodil

You are invited to join in.   As I have done in the past, the first clue will be posted very late Saturday evening (Feb. 28) (Eastern Time).    Even though I live in Seattle,  I am heading east to visit my new grandson who is due the end of February.  No,  they have not shared the name yet.

I have been having a fabulous time with this quilt.  I am finding that it is highly addictive.

I have already made 5 tops and have plans for several more.

I am also planning on busting a lot of stash using this pattern this year.

If any of you are interested in making bed sized quilts let me know and I will add this to the pattern when the mystery is over.

Fabric Choices:

Scrappy and NOT Scrappy

This quilt is appropriate for all skill levels.

Quilt Sizes:

Option 1:

There are 2 sizes -Baby or Lap Quilt  (56″ by 56″),  Comfort Quilt (56″ by 68″)

This quilt has a 6″ inner border.

Option 2:

There are 2 sizes – Charity Baby Quilt (no need to piece the backing)  (40″ by 46″),

Comfort Quilt (50″ by 62″)

This quilt has a 3″ inner border.

________________________________________________________

1.  The fabric on the left is a fabric line from Clothworks.

I used the hydrangea fabric at the bottom for my 6″ inner border and I love how it looks.  I used a white fabric with a light blue print for the background.

2.  The top right fabric is from a collection of florals and I used a green fabric for the background and inner and outer borders.

3.  Bottom right.  My fabric for the baby charity quilt.   Only two fabrics.  The blue is for the background and all borders.  The turtle fabric is the block foreground fabric.

This quilt was made with fabric purchased in 2010 in Paducah, KY.

DH and I went there and enjoyed every quilty minute.

I found a fabulous sale on Kona solids (remnants) at Hancocks of Paducah.

I bought it all.

I had a very interesting selection of fabric colors to work with.

That fabric inspired me to create a quilt to remember my fun visit.

I quilted it on my domestic machine.  I stitched in the ditch along the lines of the bargello pattern.

I am giving it to my son for his birthday.

Delectable Stars Quilt Pattern – Stars are Made from Half Square Triangles

Two Quilt Sizes –  Comfort Quilt (60″ by 60″)  and Full Quilt (90″ by 90″)

Blocks are 18.5″ unfinished

Made for display at my quilt guild annual quilt show.

I also did all the quilting on my domestic machine.

I like the Delectable Mountains pattern using cut up half square triangles and found another way to use the half square triangles.
